With an agreeable year-round climate and a variety of facilities to choose from, it will not be difficult to engage in a sports activity whilst on holiday in Malta and Gozo.
Most hotels offer facilities including tennis courts, squash courts, gym, swimming pools, and saunas. Many of them also offer watersport facilities, including scuba diving, water skiing, windsurfing, and sailing.
Not surprisingly, watersports play a big role in the activity range on the Islands and equipment is available to rent at almost every major sandy beach or beach club.
Paragliding, windsurfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, and scuba diving are all enjoyed by locals and tourists. Sailing regattas are held regularly between April and November.
Other sporting events held locally include basketball, cycling, rugby, Waterpolo, climbing and abseiling, hockey, judo, wrestling, table tennis, fencing, and many more.
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS
Malta is just a few hours flying time from most European cities and has excellent intercontinental connections. With over 100 destinations, choose from scheduled services or charter flights, many of which offer a convenient departure point from European regional cities.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There are a total of 80 different routes that link the different localities in Malta to either major hubs such as Valletta, Mater Dei Hospital, and the Airport or to other destinations. Generally, one or two-digit routes (Eg. 1, 2, 3, ... 12... 34... 94) denote mainline routes that operate to and from Valletta from various localities.
CAR AND COACH HIRE:
Renting a car is a good option if you want to get to the farther reaches of the island. A number of internationally based car hiring firms, as well as local companies, also offer the services of chauffeur-driven cars, minivans and coaches.
Malta packs glorious variety into its small archipelago. You'll find prehistoric temples, fossil-studded cliffs, hidden coves, thrilling scuba diving and a history of remarkable intensity.
This European destination is the hub of activity and some of the finest attractions the Mediterranean has to offer. Whether you’re looking for a hike around the northern coast of Malta or looking to play some golf under the Maltese sunshine.
